Although not very promising, I've posted some Hex Editor results on the PS-02 forum at AX84.com .
I started with a vanilla system image and changed the first and second patch names to predictable things and then compared the USER.PCH results. hmmm...
Anyone care to try your hand at ciphering the patch name algorythm? I've got some samples posted... Will probably have to write the hex out as binary to figure it out.

patch names decoded

Well, we've managed to get the patch names decoded from the user.pch file and now have the theoretical ability to extract/replace/rename/insert patches from the computer side. Thanks to Keith Kotay for unravelling the mystery. Heck, Keith doesn't even have a PS02!
I will probably try to whip up some code that can accept your user.pch file and let you make these sort of adjustments before I move to the next phase which will likely be pulling out certain information about the patch (like model, EQ settings, etc...). I'm not sure how useful it is to edit on the computer, but knowing what was in the patch might be helpful.
Things I am working on:
-Sound Editor
-Sound Database (switch songs between user.pch)
-Program to create new rhythms
-Program to create songs (copy bars ...)
-Change the system to get an audio loop
The only problem - time

You're an animal, man!! This stuff is great. It's exactly what's needed on the PC to really take advantage of the PS02. Combine this with Chris' web sharing idea and you've done what Zoom should be doing themselves!
