I'm a bass player and i'm looking for a cheap way to record on my computer, I'm comparing the usefullness of the ps02 to the new line 6 guitar port. So just a couple of questions.
1. What format does the ps02 record in i.e midi, mp3 , wav?
2. Can I import my recorded tracks into cubase, cakewalk or any other program to add more effects, instuments etc.
3. Can I run effects into the ps02 with out damaging the input.
4. Will a bass record well on the ps02
5. How good is the microphone for recording acoustic guitar and vocals.
6. Can I import the recorded drum backing track into cubase or such program.
Oh and throw in any other comments u want about either unit.
Thanx in advance
1. What format does the ps02 record in i.e midi, mp3 , wav?
The PS02 uses its own format.
Rhy: (Pattern and Songs)
-The Songs are a sequence of pattern. The Pattern include Drums and Bass. The Pattern are preset pattern. To change them you can use the PS02PatternEditor (www.soundside.de).
-You can transfer the Songs to MIDI with a PC/Mac Tool called 'CardManager' provided for free by Zoom.
-You can NOT import any MIDI data into the PS02.
2. Can I import my recorded tracks into cubase, cakewalk or any other program to add more effects, instuments etc.
-Yes.
-The 'Card Manager' can transfer the PS02 Audio files to normal wav files.
-You can add effects... and transfer the wav files back to PS02 Audio.
-All files use 31.25khz sample rate.
3. Can I run effects into the ps02 with out damaging the input.
-Yes
4. Will a bass record well on the ps02
-Yes, I use a bass too (not as good as a bass pod - but ok)
5. How good is the microphone for recording acoustic guitar and vocals.
-Its not a 500$ mic, but good enough for demos.
6. Can I import the recorded drum backing track into cubase or such program.
-Yes
-You but you can't import any MIDI data into the PS02 (I need this feature too)

You need some hot pick-ups to lay a bass track down. I can't get a good level with mine(cheap Squire).
