Still planning a PS-02 Compilation CD
March 26 2002 at 11:20 AM

I'm still hoping at some point to put together a compilation CD of PS-02 created music. Anyone interested in having their music included or with any questions send them my way or post them here.

Interested...March 26 2002, 1:03 PM

What is the best format to send? I mean, a .wav file sounds best, but is huge...nothing Bearshare can't accomodate. Or, of course mail.

And where do I send?

Thanks,

Jesse

MP3s pleaseMarch 26 2002, 4:31 PM

To keep things simple I'm going to do the CD through MP3.com, which means I need MP3s encoded at 128kbs in stereo. You can email them to me at zoom@folkhop.com

We already have a page at mp3.com at http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/293/ps-02.html

For more info about mp3.com go to http://help.mp3.com/help/category/artist_general.html

Info about converting files to MP3 format is at http://help.mp3.com/help/article/general_convert.html

I definitely will contributeMarch 27 2002, 2:02 PM

I'm trying to wrap up packaging of 2 songs: 1 is an all instrumental version of led zeppelin's 'thank you' plus another song. i am a bass player but I play all of the instruments on my recordings. i am working on a funk slap bass tune also. i'll post these asap.

That raises a thorny issueMarch 27 2002, 2:39 PM

Let's talk about cover tunes.
In order to put a cover tune on the CD (or to legally put it on any CD) you need to get a compulsory license, which you can do by directly contacting the copyright owner, or by going through the Harry Fox agency. For more on this go to http://www.concentric.net/~Outlawyr/zoetrope/cover.html

Soooo, unless you have the rights please only send me original tunes for the compilation CD.

Thanks.

OKMarch 28 2002, 9:04 AM

OK, I won't include the zeppelin cover. Although I'll try to get my next song done asap so it can be included- I'm pretty certain nobody else has done the tune before- it's called BIG BOOT FUNKASAURUS.

Let me know the deadline so i have an idea of how much time i have.

have a listenMarch 28 2002, 1:53 PM

I have some demos posted at www.rattlin.co.uk.
Have a listen and if you think any are good enough let me know and i will send the full versions.

Deadlines, etc.March 29 2002, 8:40 AM

There is no real deadline, when I get enough songs to fill a CD, then I'll put it together.

Andy, I listened to your songs and they all sound good but I especially liked Compulsed. I couldn't get the link for Bouncin' to work. Send me any tunes you want on the CD and I'll pick and choose later.

Which reminds me; my inclination is to make all songs readily accessible on the MP3.com site, but it's completely up to you, so if you send me a song let me know if it should be downloadable or streaming only.

the Name GameApril 18 2002, 9:37 AM

Hi, I need your help in naming the upcoming compilation CD. Here are the proposed names so far:

Zoomilation

PS I Luv U

Zooming

Any thoughts?

PS I Luv YouApril 19 2002, 3:39 PM

As a Beatles fan, I really like that name. Will Northern Songs Ltd. have a problem with that?

nopeApril 19 2002, 9:30 PM

"Will Northern Songs Ltd. have a problem with that?"

P.S. I Love You is a fairly common expression.

Hope you like it.

How 'bout:

Magna Zoom Loud

Zoom-a cum Loud

(OK, I teach at a college and it's time for graduation.)

Here's my favorite:

PSongs, Vol. 1

("P" is silent as in psychology.)

i've been racking my brains and have come up with...
"Many Inspired Noodles Generated Extemporaneously"...I think this sums up the catalytic, creative, quality of the ps02.
Unfortunately, the acronym spells MINGE, something I haven't been getting a lot of since i got my ps02.

Well I tried GODDAMMIT.

Minge?May 2 2002, 2:50 PM

Um, that's an idea.

Well, I'm currently leaning toward PS I Love You but I'm still open to ideas.

I have about 9 songs so far from people that said i could use theirs. If you haven't sent me a song yet for inclusion, please do so soon. I hope to have the CD ready for release by the end of June. That's my current target anyway.

Here's a variation of one of the front leaders:

"PS I Love You 2"

Yeah butMay 10 2002, 3:51 PM

I was thinking that would be good for volume two.
