which to buy?

I need help to make the right decision in purchasing the right unit for my recording needs. The PS02 and the MRS4 seem to be excellent units and within my budget. I am new to this technology. The last time I recorded the stuff had tubes in it! I have a HP Pavilion with a CD writer plus. Can I "burn" a CD with this set up? I will be recording myself acoustically on vocal, guitar, harmonica, and piano. Everything will be done live, no overdubbing tracks. I reall don't need the bass/drum stuff on the PS02, but my big concern is reverb. The MRS4 seems have only "hall dubbing". Is this a reverb effect? Is it the only one on it? The PS02 seems to have more reverb options. Also I need help in connecting the recorder to my computer. I am quite illeterate in this field. Could someone please tell the pros and cons of these 2 units in reference to my needs. Thanks

Hi walterMarch 9 2002, 3:42 PM

First of all ive only used the ps02 not the other machine so i cannot compare them -
connecting the ps02 to your pc is easy - you just take a stereo mini plug cable from the headphones to the line input on the back of your pc.
You can download free software from the net to record your ps02 songs and then convert them into mp3s.
You can burn them to cd the same as any other files - but i dont have a cd writer so i cant really advise on this - your cd writer probably came with the software to do this.
The reverb on the ps02 is excellent - and there are many variations / delays / ping pong / spring etc.
Even if you think you dont want to multitrack once you get into it its great fun - i thought the same at first but now im adding all kinds of stuff to my tunes.
The drums are handy - theres a metronome so even if you dont want to add drums you can just use them to keep time.
Have fun!

I am fairly certain that reverb is only available globally and NOT as part of an insert effect. This is the case with the 1044. The PS-02 has multiple reverb choices as part of a patch. In addition, there is a global reverb in the mixdown effect. The PS-02 was designed as a guitar effects unit.
