64mb Smartmedia problem
March 6 2002 at 3:17 PM

Just bought a PS-02 - Excellent.
However after getting a 64 meg card, whilst it formats OK and is useable, when I put it in my PC reader it corrupts the card and throws up a 'card error' message on the PS 02.
It can't be my reader cause it works fine with 8 & 16meg cards. I even tried another 64mb card with the same result - has anyone else experienced this problem?

Neil ... are you sure the reader supports 64Mb cards, some earlier ones don't.

I found this problem when I first used one of the floppy drive units. Downloading the later driver sorted the problem in that the original driver did not support cards over 32MB.

You need to also ensure that the writer completly finishes the write operation before you remove the card. Sometimes although Windows appears to have finished the little red light on the exsternal card reader unit (I bought one of these later) continues to flash. Wait until it stops. This caught me out as well.

Jerry
