Problem with Cardmanager
February 24 2002 at 1:45 PM

Hello together,
I downloaded the Cardmanag. software from the zoom site but some problems arised:
When I try to "back up my card" the software is not able to read the song file stored on this card. The error message is saying "are not able to read the file song99".
The function "export a song to smf" does not work too. The created midi file cannot be read by my windows media player. "unknown file type" says Wmp although the created file is a mid -file.
Has anybody an idea about this? Maybe I made some mistakes when recording or so?
Thx in advance! Egon, Frankfurt/Main, Germany

Egon:
I'm probably wrong, but I think the card backup function is only to copy "system" files off the original 8MB SM card, along with the demo stuff. This is stored on the HD of the PC, so that after formatting a brand new (empty) SM card with the PS-02, then you can "restore" the new card, which transfers all the system files, patches, demos, etc. from the original SM card. This would make the new SM card your "working" card, and the original stored for safekeeping. As I said, I'm probably wrong, and there's lots more knowledgeable people here than me.

Thx to you, Harmony. It seems you are right: only the systems-files has beeing copied to the HD. Step by step I am realizing that the Cardmanager is not the thing Im looking for. Im searching for a possibility to safe my song files on HD. SO I will try to use the line out/in way from ps2 to the pc's soundcard and so on (thx god there is a forum like this!). bye.
