Just ordered and got it. - QuestionFebruary 21 2002, 5:42 PM

The default (and only selectable) File type is *.pslib
Manualy change it to *.pch or *.* and PatchEditor will not find the file.

Should I create re-named copies of the files to work with?
Or...

Re: Ready for download: PS02 Patch Editor 1.0February 22 2002, 10:39 AM

I will provide a faq next week. Here some draft information:

The Librarys of the PatchEditor are NOT PS02 patchfiles. Librarys can contain at least one and a allmost unlimited number of patches, librarys can contain descriptions and more. PS02 patchfiles must contain exactly 60 patches, no descriptions..

Librarys of the PatchEditor consists of two files:
libname.pslib and libname.pslib.txt

One library with new patches is included in the package. (AHBlues&Rock1.pslib and AHBlues&Rock1.pslib.txt)

You can load this library or create a new one.
To create a new one use: file/load (library) and move to the directory you like and insert the name of the library you want to create.

To use the patches of the library in the PS02 use:
Export Library -> PS02

To import patches of a PS02 patchfile use:
Import PS02.

Hope to help you.

PS02PatchEditor Help and FAQ February 23,2002

1. Demo Version Questions
2. Basic Questions
3. Advanced Questions
4. Platform Questions

Demo Version Questions:
--------------------------------

What can I do with the demo version ?

- Test all features of the full version
- Test the PS02PatchEditor as long as you like (No time limit)

What are the limits of the demo version ?

-Only Drive and Cab Parameters are shown and can be changed.
-Patch/'Append All Different Patches -> Library' is inactive
-Cant Export Library to PS02

Basic Questions:
--------------------------------

What files of the PS02 can be changed with the PS02PatchEditor ?

-You can change (or create new) patch files (*.pch)

What patch files can be changed ?

-Two files can be changed: preset.pch and user.pch
-preset.pch contains the 60 factory patch presets (cant be changed with the PS02)
-user.pch contains the 60 user patches (can be changed with the PS02)
-The file FACPATCH.pch is just a update. Leave it unchanged.
-More information about PS02 files -> www.soundside.de

What is a Patch Library (*.pslib) ?

-A Library are special files of the PS02PatchEditor
-You cant load them directly into the PS02
-A Library can contain all your patches of many patch files (*.pch)
-It contains descriptions and other information

Is a Patch Library a single file ?

-No, a Patch Library consist of two files
-LIBRARY-NAME.pslib and LIBRARY-NAME.pslib.txt

Where can I get Libraries ?

-One Library with new patches is included in the PS02PatchEditor package
-New Libraries will be available at www.soundside.de
-All new Libraries will be free for PS02PatchEditor customers

Can I exchange Libraries with other users ?

-Yes, of course you can exchange all your own libraries
-You are allowed to modify and exchange LIBRARYS from www.soundside.de
-You are NOT allowed to convert and exchange LIBRARYS from www.soundside.de in other formats
(pch, text, ...)

How can I build a new Library ?

-Menu: file/'load (library)'. Chose the directory you like and insert the name of the library you want to create.

How can I add patches to a Library ?

-Menu: file/'Import PS02'
-The patches of your PS02 file (*.pch) are in the left list box (always 60 patches)
-The patches of your Library are in the right list box (any number of patches)

Can I change a patch or a name of a patch directly ?

-No, the patches in the left list box are 'read only'
-The patch details of the selected patch will be shown in the Details field.
-To change a patch copy this patch into the library.

How to copy and change a patch ?

-Double click on a patch in the left list box (Patches)
-This patch will be copied to the right list box (Library)
-Select the new patch in the Library
-You can edit this patch (Details)
-You can add a description in the textbox on to of the PS02PatchEditor
-You can change the name of the selected patch

How can I reload the changed patches to the PS02 ?

-Menu: file/'Export Library -> PS02'
-The first 60 patches of the Library will be stored in the PS02 patch format (*.pch)
-If you have less than 60 patches in the Library the selected patch will be copied up to Patch 60.

Please give me a quick guide. How can I change some of my 60 patches and reload them to the PS02?

1.
-Menu: file/'load (library)'
-select any directory you want
-insert any filename you want

2.
-Menu: file/'import PS02'

3.
-Menu: patch/'Append all patches -> library'

4.
-Select the patch you want to change (library list box)

5.
-Make any changes

6.
-Menu: file/'export library -> PS02'

Would you recommend this quick way ?

-No I would recommend to maintain a library
-Its easy. Make the first 4 steps from the example above AND:

5.
-Make any changes
-Add descriptions for your patches, date of last change, Author…

6.
-Menu: file/’save (library)’

7.
-Menu: file/'export library -> PS02'

Advanced Questions:
--------------------------------

I build a library with 60 patches
Entered the descriptions (a lot of work)
Now I changed some patches (with my PS02)

1. Its difficultly to remember which pattern are changed
2. After I replaced the changed ones with the patches of the library the descriptions are lost

How can I handle it ?

-Load the library (file/’load (library)’
-Load the changed patch file (file/’import PS02’)
-Menu: patch/’Update ALL patches in the library’

done !

This is only possible if:
- All patches in your patch file (*.pch) have different patch names
- Patch names are changed with the PS02PatchEditor only.

Advanced Tips:
--------------

-Use windows/'Top' to make the PatchEditor the topmost window.

-As in the PS02 not all drivetypes can use the CapType and SpeakerType.
(The PatchEditor allows you to select also invalid combinations)
