I was reading the past posts last week when deciding which to buy. I ended up calling my local MARS and they actually had both in stock. I went to the store and basically just had time to turn them and and compare the demo's. Really, I just wanted to get a feel for them. If you're trying to decide these comments may help you.
I thought the demo(s) for the PXR4 sounded much better, much clearer and more natural sounding. I didn't dig into the rhythm sounds, but I think maybe the drums were recording (not canned) which might explain some of the improvement. My main concern with the PXR4 though, was the lack of headroom. When you turn the faders up anywhere past 8, the sound completely distorts and craps out...even on the demo's! I don't understand why they didn't put a limiter on the output?
I didn't compare the effects or anything. I know it's important to some, but frankly I don't care too much about the sound quality of the effects or drum sounds - I already have a real studio - I just want something to capture and develop ideas on. The quality of both of these is not going to be too great anyway.
So I ended up choosing the PS-02, even though I think the demo quality sucks. In great part because of it's size. You can realistically put it in an inner jacket pocket and take it around. Even though the Korg isn't much bigger, it's too bulky for a pocket. It'd be nice to have an extra track and USB, but the lack of headroom on the Korg really bothered me.
Obviously, this is by no means an in depth comparison, but if you're trying to choose I hope it helps.
