Another happy PS-02 camper. January 19 2002 at 4:48 PM
I got my "B-Stock" PS-02 from Zzounds yesterday. It's even smaller than I'd imagined!
Warning for new users: It may seem overwhelming, you may think your unit is broken (several things may seem not to work). But stick with it! Everything works if you set it right.
A few hours into messing around with my unit I was thinking all the posts on here that said it only took a day of work to figure out the unit were crazy. But all of a sudden things clicked. I am by no means implying I'm an expert. I'll be keeping a the manual near me for a few weeks at least, but I've managed to set it up, record, back up, convert and assemble on PC to a finished 44.1 cd ready wav for three short songs in under 24 hrs.
I'm sure I'll be posting questions here along the way. But for now I'm just having fun recording music sitting on my couch instead of squeezing a Taylor 512 between my belly and my computer desk.
Thanks to everyone on the list for their help so far!
I own a Guild DCE1 Electro Acoustic. Also use a Zoom 504 (Have you tried one ?)
Would love to here some of your songs.
What do you play ?
Glad your happy with your PS-02

Jerry
Fingerstyle

Hi Jerry,
Yep. I'm an acoustic sort of guy. I haven't tried the 504, but I have a 505 collecting dust since I stopped playing electric.
Now that I have an easier way to record some songs I'm going to put a few together and put them up on MP3.com.
I write and play mostly fingerstyle numbers. I aspire to write some songs that sound anything like Elliott Smith and/or Nick Drake.
What sort of things do you like to play? Is there somewhere I can hear your stuff?

Acoustica

Right on. I love the acoustic guitar. Me and my buddy go down to Acoustic Jams and I play the acoustic guitar, and my buddy flutters away on the flute. Right now I'm learning classical guitar (have only been doing classical for about a year), but all of the fingerpicking from the acoustic has helped out immensely. (its just reading those notes that kills me!). I would also like to hear fellow acoustic players. I love the electic too- but there's just something about the acoustic, especially fingerstyle, that the electric can't touch. Would love to hear some of your music.
It explains all I do i.e. style, artist I cover and has some short cover song clips.
It also lists the gear I use and my limited success in playing out gigging etc.
Some of the recordings are over a year old so I am hoping to re-do them with my PS-02, perhaps adding some backing/rhythm etc
I would be interested in your comments
Regards
Jerrt.

Not that good.

Hi Jerry,
I checked out your samples. Very nice. Sounds like you have great playing technique and I like your voice a lot. It sounds a bit like the guy from The Apples In Stereo.
Unfortunatly I'm not that good. I don't really know any covers. I can play the first couple measures of Greensleaves, but that's about it. All the songs I play are things I wrote and most of them are just okay. I'll put some up soon so you can hear for yourself.
I love playing and writing songs, but have no ambitions to earn a living from it since I already have a pretty cool job. But who knows? Maybe someday I'll be good enough.

Thanks Zeke.
I would love to do this professionally but I am not good enough, have a family (lots of regular committments) and also a good job (IT Manager)which pay the regular bills and funds my hobbies (this and model plane flying)
Do wish I could find more opportunites to play live though
Regards

I play acoustic also, and have the PS-02 and the 504. Don't really like the 504 so much, but the PS-02 rocks. Also work in IT...
