Smartmedia format question December 31 2001 at 3:09 AM | Chris
|
| I'm thinking about picking up a PS-02 in the next few days and I'm hoping to use my existing 128mb smartmedia card from my digital camera. What I'm wondering though is whether formatting the card for the ps-02 will make it inoperable for my digital camera. Anybody else using their card with multiple devices? Any problems? Thanks for any info... chris |

The camera will want to put all kinds of files on there and formating and crap that the PS-02 might choke on. Also, the PS-02 uses up memory fast. Just get a second card. 64mb cards are way cheap, like $20. |

Just wondering... my camera only puts a subdirectory named "Pics" in the root directory and fills that with sequential jpg files. I don't think it'll have problems with files anywhere else on the card I'm just wondering if the ps-02 does anything out of the ordinary in it's formatting of the card. Thanks, chris |

No, the PS-02 just needs its system files on the root directory (no sub folders). It probably won't change anything in your pics folder. But every time you take the card out of the PS-02 and put it in the camera, or vice versa, you wear it out a little. Every time you write to the card, you shorten its life a little. Shell out $20 for a 64 meg card for your Zoom and life will be so much easier. |
