Can you record 2 tracks at the same time
December 29 2001 at 11:04 PM

I think I know the answer here...but is it possible to record say a guitar and vocal at the same time and have them isolated to differant tracks? I mean could you plug the guitar in the input port and then a mic into aux and have the guitar lay down on track 1 and vocal on 2...? Or is the only thing you can do record the guitar on the 1st pass and the vocals on the second?

Use Aux. InputJanuary 2 2002, 6:45 PM

I think the aux input is stereo.
In theory, you could use a mixer to get the vocals in one channel & guitar on the other.
Tap into the ps-02 via 1/8" Aux in, then set it to record on channels 2&3.
Does this make sense? Don't have my unit in front of me, but I'll test it myself.

So pan the vocals and guitar to opposite sides, right? That might be just what I am looking for, thanks!

Set the recording option for input to Ai so it records from both aux in and input jack, record to tracks 2 and 3.

From audio menu press record, use left right cursor keys to get to SOURCE and up down keys to change options to Ai, then left right keys to R- and up down to 2/3

When you record through the aux-in, you can't add any effects can you?

don't think you can use the ps-02's effects on the aux input. but i've had good results using external effect processor (POD. stomp boxes, etc..) through the aux in.

Use AUX IN and Built-In MIC at the same time...February 16 2002, 2:26 PM

Instead of using an external MIC, you can actually use the built-in MIC together with the AUX IN.

I allways carry my guitar and PS02 with me without a microphone. Just plug my accoustic (with Fisherman pick-up) into the AUX-IN (Normal INPUT does not work together with internal MIC) and set the PS02 to:
- R23
- Effect patch 20 (to enable the built-in MIC)
- Push the Mic button
- SOURCE Ai

... push record and keep your PS02 close to your mouth.
Guitar sounds great if you pick it up on the built-in mic together with the AUX IN. I use a simple "mini-jack to normal jack" adapter in between.

The normal INPUT channel and the built-in MIC are "hard-wired" to the same channel, that's why you allways must use the AUX IN.

You can allways bypass the ECHO effect of patch 20 if you want.

Have fun.

Stef.
