I managed to do it 1 track at a time, but I wasn't really pleased. You'll need an external mini stereo male to 1/4" male cable.
Mono example:
1. record your audio, let's say on track 1.
2. select the mixdown effect.
3. lengthen the lead-in count to give yourself more time.
4. plug in the external cable from the 'OUTPUT' to the 'AUX INPUT'(for mono, you probably could use the 'INPUT' as well).
5. while in the 'audio' mode, press 'record'
6. select track 2(for example), and select 'au' (aux input).
7. pull slider 2 all the way down, and set slider 1 where you want it (probably around 80-100%).
8. push 'play' and slowly raise slider 1 while listening for feedback and distortion.
9. remember the spot were you liked slider 2.
10. press stop.
11. press 'record', 'ins/del' and 'execute' do delete track 2.
12. brace yourself and get ready!
13. press 'record', making sure is's still on track 2, and recording from 'au'
14. press 'play' and quickly move slider 2 all the way down and then back to your favorite spot, before the lead-in time elapses! You have to do this to make the PS-02 register your record level setting.
15. wait.
16. turn track 1 all the way down, and listen to the newly recorded track.
17. repeat from step 7 unitl it doesn't suck!
18. copy it to your pc, convert to wav... mp3 or whatever!
Stereo is similar, but I use tk 1&2, do the panning, make sure I enable New Take, and record through the effect to 2&3. Use 3rd party software to combine, and clean it up.
That's what I do. Is it worth it?
Probably not.
I suggest just using something like SoundForge or C.W.
But that's just me. But at least it'll expand your ps-02 horizons. I got some new cool sounds by playing with the interferrence, clipping and feedback. You can explore new territory without worrying about blowing amps... just your ear drums! |
