How so?
1. Buy some CHEAP smartmedia:

I have seen 64mb for as little as $23.
2. Set the recording speed at lo-fi and you can squeeze over an hour of music on the card. This is great for working out, or riding the train, or whatever, and you don’t have to buy an mp3 player
Or the built-in condenser lets it replace a microcasette player for reasonably loud sources. I recorded a local band in open air with mine the other day.
