help my ps02 just died
when i switch on
it displays
card error
when i load the original card
it works for a short while
then displays error
i have cleaned the cards
so HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have had problems also with CRD ERROR" messages. If reformatting/force formatting the card doesn't help...
(you'll need a Smart Media card reader/writer) backup your PS-02 startup files, and any recrded songs, to your computer's hard drive. Then restore the system files to your working card. This worked for me. Hope it helps you.

Process of elimination will find your problem.
1) The power must be stable.
---- Are you on strong batterys?
---- Are you on the AC adapter and still getting low power for some reason. ie. bad wall AC. If you have a volt meter the power can be monitored. Then you will know for sure.
Once you have established good power as a fact, than you are left with the PS02 or the SmartCard. You tried swapping the card already so you might have crud in the card slot of the PS02. maybe some quality artists paper board of the right thickness could be cut to size and one edge wetted with contact cleaner to clean the internal contacts.
As a side note I have successfully opened my PS02 up to examined the internals and find nothing inside that could be cleaned any easier by taking it apart, so I don't recommend anyone try opening one. There is no point to it.
record
just happened to me

After months of leaving my 64mg SM card in i swapped back to the original and immediately got the card error. After taking a deep breath i swapped back to the 64. It still worked and i was able to format the 16. Next time i load the 64 i'm going to record all my song ideas to tape so i don't forget them. My USB is not working right now.
The only thing i can figure is that previosly i had left my power adapter plugged in for a day unconnected. I know this can ruin it over time. Maybe now it needs to warm for a bit before i try turning my unit on. Or, i stored the 16 mg card with those memory protect stickers on top of it. Maybe it caused data damage. In any case it should not have happened.
