MAIL TO ZOOM FOR 128 MB SUPPORT
October 25 2001 at 3:26 PM

I think that we should all send a mail to zoom to tell them that we expect 128 mb smart media support as they promised in manual. I will send them E-mail every day until they answer...Will you join me?

I agree...October 25 2001, 6:35 PM

but so long as the e-mails are constructive and non abusive. And perhaps not just to get 128Mb support but also a software upgrade and new drum and bass patterns and kits. Lets let em know we're still here.

There needs to be some sort of mechanism to construct drum patterns without having to spend another $400 on their seperate drum box. These things are memory hungry, a 128 would be welcome.

Drum conversionOctober 26 2001, 2:19 PM

Thats very generous of you Brit. I'd expect you could be some sort of small-time hero if you were to set about making replacement drum packs.

Since they are issuing updates we know that the software already exists to do these conversions. I don't know what sort of state its in, but I refuse to believe they don't have some sort of limited converter from MIDI or some proprietary software sequencer.

I really like the PS-02, but I'm a bit disappointed that Zoom doesn't seem to be putting a lot of effort into offering updates and other goodies.

alternative drumOctober 28 2001, 12:41 PM

I recently recorded all drumsounds (kick, snare, hihat etc.) from my band's drummer. At home, i improved the quality and imported them seperately into FruityLoops, a software drumcomputer. It gave me the ability to construct my own drumpatterns, at any given speed, with a super-realistic sound! If anyone wants to I could make those sounds available for download...

Why not? I would like to hear it, but when I usually record live drums it sounds like from garage...

The reason why ...October 28 2001, 6:34 PM

We should know the reason. I'm afraid of new plans, new models, new money-spent!

I'm using 128MB Cards!?November 6 2001, 1:27 PM

I'm using 128MB SmartMedia Cards with no problem. Am I missing somthing? I haven't tried recording for over 2 hours yet... (I guess I could and should!), but I have verified that the PS-02 did not format it to 64MB. According to my PC, they're still 128MB.

go on go onNovember 6 2001, 1:57 PM

go on, try to record for 2 hours and let us know how you got on, if it does work then problem solved!
as far as replacement drum tracks go it seems to me there must be someone out there who can program these things apart from zoom, a website opportunity maybe?

drum beatsNovember 7 2001, 7:13 AM

i don't mean to keep rattling on but its possible to arrange your own drum beats/bass lines with the rt323 then download them to the ps02/smartmedia card (meaning, you've got your own drum beat and bass and still have three tracks to play with.)

im in the process of trying to get the files into a postable/e-mailable format so we can all share unusual rhythm patterns.

any suggestions/advice would be greatly apeciated.
