I just picked up a PS02 last week, based mostly on the posts provided here. Most of the questions I had about this device were answered or addressed at this site!
I have found that composing the tune measure by measure and not being able to copy sections to be a big pain in the rear. Question is : Can I set the song length to x# of measures using a basic pattern, record my rhythm guitar track, and then edit the rhythm track changing chords and patterns?
You should be able to program the drums to be a straight metronome, get the tempo right, and record over it. Then it's just a matter of re-programming the drums as required. However you can't change the tempo without having to re-record the guitar parts.
The only other thing I can think of is to beware of making your guitar parts sterile because they aren't interacting with whatever the drums are doing.
Check out some of the recent posts cos they discuss this too.

It's easier to lay down the drum and bass first, then add guitar. If you do it the other way you're going to be tearing your hair out trying to match bass patterns to the guitar part you played.

Thanks guys. I think a lot of my question was answered in the previous post "Working with Measures".
My plan is to create a song with 99 measures, record a guitar rhythm over a single pattern i.e.: M-10-1, (I play jazzy stuff, BTW ain't much for jazz patterns, eh?), with the bass vol turned down. Then edit the tune using the rhythm patterns that work best, and inserting the proper bass chord where my guitar parts change.
Either way, I'm gonna have to tweak, but I think it'll be easier to program the bass, while listening to my guitar, rather than fitting my guitar to a clunky bass track.
Now I just need a couple hours to PLAY!
Hey, I'll let ya know how it works.
