Auxilary Wha?

This is probably a really stupid question but what practical use is there for the auxilary in? What can I use it for? Could I possibly change a 1/4" Jack to fit this plug and plug in a bass and record bass and guitar simultaneously?

Thanks for helping a luddite

Precisely right! I use a 1/8" jack adaptor for my bass lead into the aux in so I can jam with my guitar player at low volume. You can also select aux and input as a record source so you can record 2 things at once.

I think the idea behind the aux in is you could plug your CD player into it and record some music into the Zoom and then jam to it. But yeah, it's real value comes in having a second "channel" for live recording situations.
If you select Ai as the recording source and "23" as the recording track you record to tracks 2 and 3.
Read "recording options" in the manual.

CD'sSeptember 10 2001, 6:41 PM

I use it primarily for CD's. I have loads of CD's that don't have a guitar track and so I can play 'em through the PS-02 and I can jam over it. And I only have to wear 1 set of headphones. In the past I've had a set of earphones on with cupped headphones over them so that I can hear both sources.
I also record the odd bit of music from CD onto the PS-02 when I'm trying to nail something.

That jack is what sold me on this unit! I play the Chapman Stick (www.stick.com) so I play bass and guitar at the same time. I run the bass side in the aux jack and the melody side in through the regular input to get the effects and can record both parts at the same time but processed separately.

Loads of uses.September 11 2001, 5:04 PM

Midi/Anaolgue mixing - I do midi on a yamaha QY70, and then play this on the aux, while playing along analogue
on the mic/input.

Mic -- so you can sing and play at the same time (if you want effects on both, two PS02s with the output of one plugged into the AUX of the other will do the trick (not tried this myself, but fancied giving it a go ).

Two track recording -- it is stereo, so you can wire it up to record different inputs to tracks 2 and 3 in real time (again no effects).

Stereo Recording -- its stereo.
